Брокерская фирма по ценным бумагам, предлагающая существенно более низкие ставки комиссии за совершение фондовых операций, нежели брокерские дома, оказывающие весь спектр услуг. В 1975 г. Комиссия по ценным бумагам и биржам отменила фиксированный комиссионный сбор за проведение фондовых операций, в результате чего начался рост числа "дисконтных" брокерских фирм.
